The Nash Community College Board of Trustees, Foundation Board of Directors, administration, faculty, staff, and students would like to thank the 58 Nash Community College students who valiantly served in the United States military and have chosen to use their veteran educational benefits at Nash Community College.

Earlier this year, Nash Community College was named to the Military Friendly Schools list by Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life. The 2014 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

At NCC, a Veterans Certifying Official is available to assist veterans and eligible individuals who wish to apply for VA educational assistance. Most programs being offered by the college are approved for training under the G. I. Bill. Application forms and information may be obtained from the NCC Financial Aid Office. Additional information is available at www.nashcc.edu/veterans.

With the rollout of the NCC Student Wellness Center and clinical outreach counseling this fall, NCC offers a veterans support group to help students through post-military life challenges. In addition to college counselors, the college has a full-time employee devoted to helping all students with their individual needs.

“Inclusion on the 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools® shows Nash Community College’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, Vice President at Victory Media and a nine-year Navy veteran. “The need for education is growing and our mission is to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools.” The Military Friendly Schools media and website, found at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com, feature the list, interactive tools and search functionality to help military students find the best school to suit their unique needs and preferences.
