Alumni Association Spotlight: Robert Leonard

Robert LeonardNash Community College Alumnus Robert Leonard has already achieved more in his life than many dream possible. Leonard began his journey at NCC during the fall of 2009. He was unsure of which direction to go in life, but the College Transfer Program provided the opportunity to study while exploring various career options.

While enrolled at Nash Robert found direction while serving as a work study student and Assistant Manager of Big Bang Radio. “My work with Big Bang Radio allowed me to see that I wanted a career in the music industry,” he said. Robert found that his own love for music with an education could mix into a productive career.

After completing his degree at Nash Community College in 2011, he pursued studies at Appalachian State University’s Hayes School of Music. In December 2014, Leonard completed an internship with a major recording studio in Nashville, Tennessee. This opportunity provided experience and training from top industry professionals, artists, and the ability to use recording equipment in a real life setting.

Robert will graduate from Appalachian State University in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Industry Studies. Next he plans to move to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a career in the music industry. “My direction in life came from my love for music and the opportunities I had at Nash Community College.”
