New Partnership Brings Class B CDL Training to Twin Counties

Nash Community College has announced a partnership with Waste Industries resulting in a new Class B CDL Truck Driver training program including 40 hours of combined in-class learning and behind-the-wheel training. Through an existing training partnership, NCC also offers Class A CDL training for students interested in driving a vehicle with a semi-trailer or trailer with two or more axles.

Over the past seven years, Waste Industries has fostered relationships with some North Carolina community colleges by donating trucks to assist in training efforts by the schools’ heavy equipment programs. The company’s Division Human Resources Manager Key Winkler explained, “Waste Industries is giving Nash Community College the opportunity to expand training, and this piece of equipment will be used to expand their workforce by ensuring continuous training so that Waste Industries, and other companies in the trucking industry, can hire qualified, competent drivers.”

A leader in the industry, Waste Industries provides high quality, customer-focused, environmentally sound solid waste disposal and recycling, delivering collection operations through more than one million services points across the United States. For 40 years, the company has been at the forefront of solid waste management, innovation and technology providing daily essential services, and making the communities it serves safer and cleaner.

“Waste Industries is proud of its continued and committed partnerships. This partnership helps foster success for the industry, higher education and our community,” Winkler said. NCC Class B CDL students can expect to use real-world equipment preparing them for careers in the local community and beyond.
