College Names Computer Information Technologies Leader

Nash Community College has named Nakisha Floyd of Rocky Mount as its new Computer Information Technologies Department Chair.

In her position, Nakisha Floyd provides leadership in developing the Computer Information Technologies Department’s academic programs; manages departmental academic affairs including the development of faculty schedules, course syllabi and course offerings; oversees department employees; develops and manages the departmental budget and organize and leads departmental meetings and teach traditional, hybrid and distance education courses.

Floyd earned a Master of Science degree in Information Technologies and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education with Business Administration minor from East Carolina University. She has been an instructor in Nash Community College’s Computer Information Technologies program since 2003. Prior to that, she taught at Pitt Community College where she also was the Coordinator of the Computer Technology Center. Nakisha Floyd has been actively involved in the North Carolina Virtual Learning Community – an information resource on the many different distance learning courses offered throughout the North Carolina Community College System – developing and editing courses and functioning as a Center Editor for a development site.

Nakisha Floyd has received numerous honors including the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Award at Nash Community College in 2008 and the the Frances Daniels Award as Outstanding Graduate Student at East Carolina University in 2002. In 2006, NCC students nominated her for the J. Edgar and Peggie T. Moore Excellence in Teaching award. She serves the NCC chapter advisor for Phi Beta Lambda, the largest collegiate business student organization in the world, of which she is also a professional member. Floyd is certified to teach Business Education in grades 6-12 in North Carolina and is a certified Microsoft Office Specialist in Word, Excel and Access. She is credentialed with Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) and completed the College’s Future Leaders Academy.
