NCC Students Win at Tri-State Welding Competition

On May 1, Timothy Daniel Hill and Jason L. Lewis, Welding students at Nash Community College, competed in the American Welding Society Tri-State Welding and Fabrication Competition in Salisbury, NC at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

Students from 10 neighboring community colleges competed. Hill placed first in the competition and was awarded with welding machinery valued at over $1,500. Lewis placed 7th and was awarded with welding accessories, including a jacket, glasses and gloves.

“I am very proud of both of my students,” states Jay Manning, NCC Welding Instructor. Manning stated that over twenty students competed and he felt very honored to have his students not only place in the competition but take first prize.
