Students review first aid and more during Officer Down class

unnamed

Nash Community College held a six-hour Officer Down Self Aid/Buddy Aid class this week in the college’s Continuing Education and Public Services Building. Law enforcement officers from Nash County Sheriff’s Office practiced tactical first aid using tourniquets and hemostatic dressings in an austere environment. As part of their ongoing in-service training, the group reviewed 360-degree security, techniques for moving injured officers to safety, how to treat life threatening injuries and evacuation of injured officers in a patrol vehicle. The course will be offered again on November 3.
