Guest speaker, Rocky Mount Police Department Lieutenant Henry Alvin King, Jr., began by addressing the bonds created during their training. “Today you can say that you have 11 new friends in your lives that have helped make the last 18 weeks bearable and fun. You had a great time making these friendships and these friendships will last forever,” King said.

A special pinning was held during the ceremony to recognize four cadets who had been hired or were in the process of being hired by the Rocky Mount Police Department and Nash County Sherriff’s Department. “When I look at this class they remind me of a class motto I had years ago, ‘coming in as strangers, leaving as colleagues’.”

Cadets in NCC’s BLET program participate in rigorous physical and classroom state commission mandated topics and methods of instruction covering topics related to legal, criminal, juvenile, civil, traffic, investigative, patrol, custody, court procedures, emergency responses, ethics, and community relations. “I would like to leave you with this saying, before you speak, listen; before you criticize wait; before you pray, forgive; before you write, think; and before you quit, try and if needed try again,” remarked King.
