B.W. Collier has been sworn in as a part-time reserve officer with Nash Community College’s Police Department. Collier recently retired as the Director of North Carolina’s State Bureau of Investigation. The swearing in ceremony was administered by Jaye Biggs, and witnessed by NCC President Dr. Bill Carver and NCC Police Chief Sara Wiggins.
The NCC Police Department employs a chief, five full-time officers who also serve as instructors, and two part-time officers. Each officer is sworn by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division, and holds full arrest authority and jurisdiction on campus-owned and controlled property. At minimum, one deputy from Nash County Sheriff’s Office is also on duty during operating hours. NCC Police Officers work varying schedules allowing extended coverage. They also provide support during special occasions on campus and at large events. They are empowered to protect the campus and enforce state and municipal laws, and College rules and regulations. Click here for more information or call 252-451-8313.
