Master Instructors Selected at NCC

Three NCC faculty members have been inducted as Master Instructors for Higher Education. April Bristow-Smith, Lane Freeman and Wanda Tyson received the Master Instructor designation which was developed to identify Nash Community College instructors who exemplify excellence in three performance standards: educational professionalism, leadership and collaboration, and responsibility for student learning.

NCC Humanities and Social Sciences Instructor, April Bristow-Smith, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in English (Secondary Education) from Appalachian State University, a Master of Arts degree in Literature from American University, and has earned National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification. She began at Nash Community College in January 2014.

Lane Freeman is Department Chair for Nash Online. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education and Master of Arts degree in Instructional Technology Education from East Carolina University. Freeman is Microsoft Office Specialist Certified in Microsoft Word and is National Board Certified. He has worked at Nash Community College since August 2013.

Wanda Tyson, NCC Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies Instructor, earned certificates in Electrical Electronics Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology/Computer Programming and Associate in Applied Science degrees in Computer Engineering Technology and Electronic Engineering Technology from Nash Community College. She graduated from North Carolina Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems, and holds a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity from Liberty University. She has been employed at Nash Community College since August 2009.
