NCC Invites Community to Campus for “Welcome Week”

Nash Community College will host “Welcome Week” on campus June 14-18, 2021 from 9:00 AM -7:00 PM each day. New and returning students are invited to learn more about the college and prepare for the fall semester which begins August 16.

“Each day will bring excitement and energy as we focus on a different aspect of becoming a student at NCC including Money Monday, Tour Tuesday, Wellness Wednesday, Talk to an Advisor Thursday and Finish it Friday,” NCC Recruitment Coordinator, Melissa Sykes said. “We hope the community will come to visit campus during Welcome Week, however, we are here to welcome visitors at any time they may need assistance at any point of the enrollment process.”

On June 14, during Money Monday, get assistance applying for scholarships, financial aid, veteran benefits and learn about NC Longleaf Commitment Grant and Finish Line Grant opportunities. Attendees may also participate in Single Stop screenings to see if they qualify for SNAP, Medicaid, Childcare vouchers, or other financial assistance. It is recommended that students under 24 years old bring their parents with them if applying for financial aid. Additionally, a government-issued ID and 2019 tax returns and/or W-2s may be needed.

“Throughout the week, we will engage visitors in informative and fun activities that will get them acclimated to campus,” Instructor Amanda Guy said. “Our goal is to let our community know there is a place for them at Nash.”

On June 15, a Career Exploration Fair will be held in Brown Auditorium from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Talk to faculty, get information about degree options and ask questions. Campus tours will depart each hour beginning at 9:00 AM. Pre-register for a tour by emailing mcsykes576@nashcc.edu or calling 252-451-8300.

On Wellness Wednesday, June 16 from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, students and visitors will learn about the wide variety of tutoring, counseling, advising and other services NCC provides to support the whole student.

“It has been a hard year for so many people. We get that,” Guy said. “Nash is here if you are ready to begin or continue your educational journey. There is no better time to get a fresh start or continue forward. And, we’ll support you in every way possible along your path.”

At Talk to an Advisor Thursday, June 17 from 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM, new and returning students can meet with their advisor, plan their course schedule and enroll for the fall semester.

Students will wrap up their plans for the fall semester at Finish it Up Friday, June 18.
