He is a local and national member of the Student Nurses&#8217; Association and has volunteered for community events including supporting local hospitals, long-term care facilities, and fire stations.<\/p>\n<p>Jarren Webb will graduate from NCC with an Associate Degree in Nursing with a 4.0 cumulative GPA.\u00a0 He plans to enroll in an RN to BSN degree program in August 2021, and begin his nursing career at Nash UNC Health Care in the Critical Care and Cardiovascular Intensive Care units.<\/p>\n<p>Created by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.daisyfoundation.org\/about\">DAISY Foundation<\/a>\u00a0in memory J. Patrick Barnes, who suffered from Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, the DAISY In Training Award is designed to remind students, even on their hardest days in Nursing School, why they want to be nurses. DAISY stands for \u201cdiseases attacking the immune system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I humbly receive\u00a0this\u00a0award,&#8221; Webb said, &#8220;and I am so thankful for the professional and personal development I have achieved during nursing school at Nash Community College. For my nursing instructors who have coached me through this experience to recognize my clinical skills and compassionate patient care, it feels rewarding.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>By recognizing Nursing students for the above-and-beyond care and compassion they show patients and their families as they are learning, we celebrate what it truly means to be a nurse.<\/p>\n<p>A sculpture from Zimbabwe\u00a0was chosen by the parents of Barnes to accompany the\u00a0DAISY in training certificate since it represents the importance of &#8220;healers&#8221; in the Zimbabwe culture.
