The Officer Chris \u201cBatman\u201d Driver Scholarship was established in 2022 to honor the memory of Officer Chris Driver who gave his life in the line of duty on June 23, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Driver was a 2009 graduate of Rocky Mount High School where he was a football player and wrestler. He was a gifted vocalist who sang in the Edgemont Baptist Church Choir, as well as with the Rocky Mount Chorus.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of Nash Community College\u2019s Basic Law Enforcement Training program, Driver began his career with the Rocky Mount Police Department in February 2013. In recognition of his commitment to duty, he was promoted to senior police officer in August 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Family and friends remember Driver as a firm but respectful officer whose personality and sense of humor made others gravitate toward him.<\/p>\n<p>The annual scholarship will support two scholarships for students enrolled in NCC\u2019s Criminal Justice degree program and one scholarship for a BLET cadet in either fall or spring semester. The scholarship was established by the Officer Chris \u201cBatman\u201d Driver Memorial Fund organization.<\/p>\n<p>Students may apply for this and all NCC Foundation scholarships by completing one general application.
