NCC students ranked among the top contestants in 12 categories. Congratulations to the following NCC student winners!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CNC Milling Specialist Category, Christopher Barham, Silver<\/li>\n<li>CNC Turning Specialist Category, Colton Burnette, Bronze<\/li>\n<li>Cosmetology Category, Alissa Bailey, Silver<\/li>\n<li>Cosmetology Beginner Skills Category, Mary Labrecque, Gold<\/li>\n<li>Cosmetology Beginner Skills Category, Enyce Lloyd, Fourth Place<\/li>\n<li>Electronics Technology Category, Cameron Rogerson, Gold<\/li>\n<li>Information Technology Services Category, William Medford, Silver<\/li>\n<li>Job Interview Category, Hannah Nguyen, Gold<\/li>\n<li>Job Interview Category, Lauren Brantley, Bronze<\/li>\n<li>Job Skill Demonstration A Category, Matthew Sessoms, Silver<\/li>\n<li>Job Skill Demonstration A Category, Shelisa Pittman, Bronze<\/li>\n<li>Medical Assisting Category, Harley Lancaster, Gold<\/li>\n<li>Promotional Bulletin Board Category, Adria Blue, Taliya Lynch and Desiree Richardson, Gold<\/li>\n<li>Technical Computer Applications Category, Josiah Carpenter, Gold<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>College students from across the state competed in contests demonstrating their skills in career areas including manufacturing, transportation, construction, hospitality and human services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese students are demonstrating more than just their skills; they are proving that our workforce is prepared to lead the way in every technical area our country needs to maintain a strong global economic presence,\u201d said SkillsUSA North Carolina Director Paul Heidepriem. \u201cCTE is learning that works for America, and we are very proud of this talented group of students who are true champions dedicated to excellence in their trades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the competition, students worked against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in their area of specialty. The competitions were run with the help of industry experts, trade associations and labor organizations with test competencies set by professional industry standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a great opportunity for our students to see where they stand against their competition,\u201d NCC Continuing Education Success Coach Wil van der Meulen said. \u201cIt is rewarding to see that their training has paid off and they are prepared to meet and exceed industry standards. These awards are a testament to employers that our students are well prepared for real-world careers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NCC SkillsUSA Chapter was recognized for having the largest postsecondary membership, more than 100 members and received the Total Participation Chapter Award and Silver Chapter of Distinction Award.
