The Nash Community College Foundation has announced the David Brooks Strickland Memorial Scholarship has been established by the parents of David Strickland, Dr. Henry Howard \u201cHank\u201d Strickland, Jr. and Rita Anne Barnett Strickland.<\/p>\n
David Brooks Strickland passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the age of 40 years old. Strickland, of Rocky Mount, was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. He was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and a die-hard Tarheels fan. For the past 12 years, Strickland served as an instructor in Nash Community College\u2019s College and Career Readiness department.<\/p>\n
David Strickland formed many friendships and bonds with his students that will forever live on as well as the impact he made on their success. He especially enjoyed visiting his family along the coast of South Carolina and cherished his nieces and nephew as though they were his own. A dedicated and loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, his memory will live on well into the future.<\/p>\n
The scholarship was established as an endowment to assist students who are graduates of the NCC High School Equivalency program who wish to further their education at Nash Community College. In establishing the scholarship, the Strickland family stated, \u201cDavid loved his work. He loved his students and was always so proud of the college.\u201d<\/p>\n
The scholarship has received many contributions from family members and friends.
