Soft skills training and interviewing best practices are also taught during training.\u00a0Following completion, students have an opportunity to increase their marketability by completing the eight-week Emergency Medical Technician Academy.<\/p>\n<p>During the ceremony, the following firefighters were honored with awards:\u00a0Seth Mahaffey, Academic Award; Luke Parks, Flame Award; James Williams, Bugle Award and\u00a0<span class=\"gmail_default\">Captain Matthew Hux, Rocky Mount Fire Department,\u00a0Instructional Excellence Award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cNash Community College Fire Academy is a lighthouse in the fire and emergency services world,\u201d Willie Kearney, NCC Fire Services Coordinator and Instructor, said. \u201cWe have a touted reputation for producing highly trained entry-level professionals for the fire and rescue service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tuition for the Fire Academy is $1,300 and includes books and a uniform, or for members of volunteer fire or rescue departments, approximately $600.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nashcc.edu\/admissions\/financial-aid\/types-of-aid\/governors-emergency-education-relief-fund\">Scholarships may be available<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prerequisites for the Fire Academy include a high school diploma or high school equivalency and medical screening. Nash Community College&#8217;s next 19-week Firefighter Training Academy is scheduled to begin August 1, 2022. The<\/span>\u00a0bugle<span class=\"gmail_default\">\u00a0<\/span>later became a symbol of leadership and the higher rank <span class=\"gmail_default\">an individual achieves <\/span>in the fire service the more bugles <span class=\"gmail_default\">they can<\/span>\u00a0attain<span class=\"gmail_default\">. Th<\/span>e<span class=\"gmail_default\"> NCC Fire Academy\u00a0<\/span>present<span class=\"gmail_default\">ed<\/span> the<span class=\"gmail_default\"> Bugle Award <\/span>for the first time ever recognizing<span class=\"gmail_default\">\u00a0<\/span>excellence<span class=\"gmail_default\">. This<\/span>\u00a0is an award that <span class=\"gmail_default\">most likely will not <\/span>be presented at every academy<span class=\"gmail_default\">, but will be de<\/span>termine<span class=\"gmail_default\">d in <\/span>special circumstances<span class=\"gmail_default\">.
