N\u200bash Community College hosted a Storm Resiliency and Preparation Event on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 that helped bolster preparedness of utility workers, county leaders, emergency management personnel and community partners for storm response.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was held in collaboration with Duke Energy Storm Resiliency and Preparation team members, Nash County Emergency Management officials and Nash Community College.<\/p>\n

\n“As Hurricane I\u200ban\u200b<\/span> bears down on the U.S., the immediacy and relevance of the information shared couldn\u2019t be more timely,” Nash Community College Vice President of \u00a0Continuing Education & Economic\/Workforce Development, Wendy Marlowe said.<\/p>\n

Presenters covered topics including the 2022-2023 Severe Weather Outlook, outage restoration, grid investments for reliability and resiliency, new technology to support restoration, communication and partnerships. The event concluded with a drone demonstration showing how technology is used to survey storm damage, locating issues and more.<\/p>\n

\n“Duke Energy leaders spoke about the work they do to prepare for and respond to severe weather as well as the improvements they have made to strengthen the power grid,” Marlowe added. “In addition, we heard from Nash County Emergency Management about partnerships with all our local, county and state emergency management officials.”<\/p>\n
