Nash Community College hosted Nash County Manager Stacie Shatzer and Chair of the Nash County Board of Commissioners Robbie Davis for lunch and a campus tour on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. County leaders visited the Student Success Center, Nursing and Veterinary Medical Technician Departments, as well as several areas in the Continuing Education Building.\u00a0<\/span>These areas included the Truck Driving Simulator, Fire Academy\u00a0t<\/span>raining, Emergency Management classroom, and the Emergency Medical Services classroom.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe remain very proud of\u00a0our<\/span>\u00a0partnership\u00a0with<\/span>\u00a0Nash County,” NCC President Lew Hunnicutt said.<\/span>\u00a0“<\/span>The County is much more than just a critical funding partner,\u00a0but a tremendous partner in local workforce and economic development. I<\/span>t was a pleasure to show officials some of the bang for the county buck provided back to Nash County on the college’s campus.<\/span>\u201d<\/div>\n

In the EMS classroom, Shatzer and\u00a0Davis\u00a0<\/span>viewed a demonstration of the in-classroom ambulance simulator \u201cSimRig\u201d and high-fidelity training mannequin.\u00a0The high-fidelity simulation mannequin incorporates computer hardware that can be programmed to allow EMS students to practice and respond to a variety of scenarios replicating what they will encounter in the real world. NCC\u2019s training is tailored to meet the needs of students in degree and continuing education EMT, Advanced EMT and Paramedic programs.<\/p>\n

The simulator also provides tailored training specific to treatment areas identified as critical by local peer review committees and serves local agencies’ needs for skill enhancement. Made possible by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act through the Coronavirus Relief Fund, the equipment was used to bridge gaps in clinical and field opportunities when hospital and EMS partners could not sustain student internships during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
