{"id":15155,"date":"2023-05-08T10:00:42","date_gmt":"2023-05-08T14:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/?p=15155"},"modified":"2023-05-08T09:58:10","modified_gmt":"2023-05-08T13:58:10","slug":"nash-community-college-graphic-design-student-designs-tackle-the-tar-shirt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/2023\/05\/nash-community-college-graphic-design-student-designs-tackle-the-tar-shirt\/","title":{"rendered":"Nash Community College Graphic Design Student Designs Tackle the Tar Shirt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/TTTShirt_2023-scaled.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15180\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/TTTShirt_2023-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"683\" height=\"455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/TTTShirt_2023-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/TTTShirt_2023-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/TTTShirt_2023-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/TTTShirt_2023-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/TTTShirt_2023-2048x1365.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nash Community College is excited that its Tackle the Tar T-shirt illustration was designed by one of its graphic design students, Jameelah Hauter.<\/p>\n<p>Hauter is a third-year student at NCC, currently completing an Associate degree in Applied Science \u2013 Advertising and Graphic Design.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had the pleasure of teaching her in several design courses,\u201d said Natasha Neal, Advertising and Graphic Design Instructor. \u201cShe\u2019s a gifted illustrator, a dedicated and creative student, a strong leader and a caring individual.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neal played an important role in Hauter learning of this opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI learned about this opportunity from my instructor Mrs. Neal, who has been influential in pushing me to continue to develop new and innovative techniques to approach design,\u201d said Hauter.<\/p>\n<p>She shared that she and Neal have regular conversations about using her hobby in illustration and incorporating tools such as digital drawing tablets in various Graphic Design projects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen she mentioned an opportunity to provide an illustration for the Tackle The Tar event, I was motivated because I was getting the chance to create something that would help NCC stand out and exemplify the Nighthawk spirit it embodies,\u201d said Hauter.<\/p>\n<p>Neal is committed to getting her students involved in the community and challenges her students to think about the \u2018real world\u2019 connection to the projects they do in class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting students involved and working in the community is very important,\u201d said Neal. \u201cIt allows students to apply what they have learned, and it\u2019s also a great way for students to connect with professionals and community members for learning and possible career opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Students get the opportunity to see their designs printed and displayed in their community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoments like this give our students a sense of accomplishment that is well needed as they continue their journey through education and into the professional world,\u201d said Neal.<\/p>\n<p>Hauter has had an interest in art\/illustration since childhood and thought graphic design work would be the best field for her to build her professional career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been trying to draw the things that came to my imagination for as long as I can remember,\u201d said Hauter. \u201cWhen I discovered the concept of graphic design, I realized that I could put my skills to professional use in an industry that\u2019s widespread in the modern world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After graduation, she wants to explore her hometown area for various opportunities to grow her experience.
