But Anna has not always been laser-focused on her career goals. When she graduated from Bunn High School in 2010 she was unsure of a field she might find interesting.

As a lover of art she decided to try her hand at graphic design and realized she enjoyed every minute of it. She began looking for a college where she could further her education as a Graphic Designer. Anna did not want to start her academic journey at a large university and she wanted to stay closer to home. After researching the local community colleges, she made a decision to enroll at Nash Community College. Anna felt NCC’s campus was growing, and had a lot to offer – a great place to start her exploration of graphic design.

As she began at Nash, Anna flourished in the classroom. Artwork she designed during her Advertising and Graphic Design classes was featured in the College’s 2014 Art Show and will be included in the upcoming show in April. Anna’s artwork has also been displayed at Golden East Crossing Mall in Rocky Mount.

Anna is an active member of the Gamma Beta Phi and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Societies and she was named to the Dean’s List for the 2013-2014 school year. She plans to graduate from Nash Community College in May 2015. Not only has she received acknowledgment for her academic success, but she has also been awarded scholarships in support of her educational endeavors. Recently Anna received Nash Community College’s Caroline and John H. High Scholarship and Barton College’s Transfer High Honors Scholarship. Both of these awards will assist her in continuing toward her milestone of graduation which will advance her to the next big steps in her career. Due to her hard work and diligence while at Nash, she has been accepted at Barton College as a transfer student where she will pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and Photography.

Anna says as a student she has met a lot of great people at Nash Community College. Her greatest inspiration, however, has come from one of her instructors. She shared that Mrs. Natasha Neal, NCC Advertising and Graphic Design Instructor, has become someone who pushed her to become a better artist and person. Anna states, “Since I began the program, Mrs. Neal has been a great inspiration. She has guided me and helped me to grow into the artist I am today.”

Anna understands the fierce competition she is up against with other graphic designers and recognizes it as a challenge in pursing her career. “It is difficult to become a known artist. Although, I know I am well-prepared and will excel in the field.” Nash Community College is proud of Anna Inscoe and its many alumni who have prepared for a successful future as Graphic Designers and in many other fields.

Written by: Desiree Dolberry, NCC Advertising and Graphic Design Student and Marketing Department Intern

Nash Community College student, Anna Inscoe of Louisburg, knows with certainty where she wants her future to take her.
