The Inaugural Nash Community College Run for Knowledge 5K will be held on campus that morning. Later in the day, the 8th Annual Jack Laughery Ride for Knowledge will occur at Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson.<\/p>\n<p>The Run for Knowledge race, hosted by Nash Community College, will begin at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_987975900\"><span class=\"aQJ\">8:30 am<\/span><\/span> at the new Continuing Education and Public Services Building located on Eastern Avenue. Runners will take off for the trees in a race that features a combination of road and trail. All proceeds from the motorcycle ride benefit the Helen and Jack Laughery Honorary Scholarship Fund at Nash Community College.<\/p>\n<p>The ride is rain or shine and registration will begin at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_987975901\"><span class=\"aQJ\">9:30am<\/span><\/span> and the ride will begin at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_987975902\"><span class=\"aQJ\">11:00am<\/span><\/span>. The cost per rider is $20 and includes an hour long ride through beautiful western Nash County escorted by Nash County Sheriff\u2019s Office, breakfast, lunch by Doug Sauls\u2019 BBQ &amp; Seafood, a unique ride pin and a &#8220;Cash is King&#8221; raffle ticket! Plus, attendees can enjoy music by NCC&#8217;s Big Bang Radio WNIA 89.1 FM, the Rocky Mount Harley-Davidson Burn Out Pit, the Jump Start Experience and more. All bikes are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>The Helen and Jack Laughery Honorary Scholarship was established in 2004 to recognize the Laugherys\u2019 philanthropic endeavors and outstanding leadership for the betterment of the Nash\/Rocky Mount area. This fund provides annual scholarships to help deserving nontraditional students who return to college to enhance their marketable job skills. Jack was a Patriot who loved his Country, enjoyed motorcycling and truly valued education. In addition to Jack and the Laughery Family, the event honors local hometown heroes. This group includes first responders, law enforcement officers, firefighters, medical emergency professionals, and military veterans. These individuals dedicate their lives to ensure the community\u2019s well-being. Representatives from the Disabled American Veterans will also be on-site.
