The two, along with Ga&#8217;Quayle Johnson, not pictured, are transferring to universities upon their graduation from NCC.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Three Nash Community College (NCC) students are completing the \u201cMen Achieving Leadership and Excellence\u201d program as they graduate and transfer to four-year universities. Also known as, M.A.L.E., the program promotes academic, personal and professional success for minority males enrolled at Nash Community College. On Wednesday, May 6, members of the M.A.L.E. program celebrated the graduates and their continued devotion to education. The goal of the Nash Community College M.A.L.E. Program is\u00a0to increase the rate of student persistence rate, increase graduation rate and encourage participants to continue their education by transferring to a four-year institution.<\/p>\n<p>Ga&#8217;Quayle Johnson of Oak City\u00a0graduated\u00a0with an Associate in Arts degree and will begin at UNC-Charlotte in the summer. He has been involved in the program since 2013. Ga&#8217;Quayle\u00a0plans to study Exercise Science and aspires to become a Physical Therapist. Joshua Jones of Rocky Mount graduated with his Associate in Science degree and has been involved in M.A.L.E. since 2014. He will transfer to North Carolina Wesleyan College in the fall. He plans to double major in Biomedical Sciences and Biology and desires to become a board certified Veterinarian specializing in Orthopedic Surgery for small animals. Michael Wiggins of Rocky Mount graduated with an Associate in Applied Science degree and has been involved in the M.A.L.E. program since 2013. Michael will continue his education at Barton College in the fall to pursue his goal of becoming a Social Worker.
