The funds will be used \u200bto purchase equipment at Nash Community College to assist in\u200b\u200b \u200bfilling skills gaps for employers using precision machining and cutting processes\u200b. The funds will be used for Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) and WaterJet training.<\/p>\n<p>The funding allows NCC to procure the equipment and offer advanced training on CNC Wire EDM and WaterJet machines, filling skills gaps for employers using precision machining and cutting processes. These machines require skills and knowledge of processes currently in demand by industrial employers. The equipment purchased will have the same specifications and capabilities often identical to equipment found in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuke Energy has been a longstanding partner with Nash Community College to provide a skilled workforce for local and regional careers,\u201d NCC President Dr. Bill Carver said. \u201cWe appreciate Duke Energy\u2019s commitment to education &#8212; an important corporate initiative in providing graduates with opportunities for successful futures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNash Community College is committed to training a workforce equipped to meet today\u2019s business needs,\u201d said Duke Energy District Manager Tanya Evans. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to make this important investment to attract and retain talented workers in this region for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This grant is part of Duke Energy\u2019s $30 million investment in North Carolina Community Colleges\u2019 focus on technical education and support of business and industry. NCC\u2019s application was reviewed by a committee of representatives from Duke Energy, NC Community College System and NC Department of Commerce and was one of only three grantees to receive a second round of funding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About Nash Community College<br \/>\n<\/strong>Nash Community College, founded in 1967, is located near the intersection of Interstates 95 and 495 in Rocky Mount.
