Nash Community College in conjunction with Nash County Emergency Services will offer a new academy to prepare individuals to become Emergency\u00a0Dispatchers. The academy is designed to train entry level dispatchers interested in applying for a job in a 911\u00a0center or those who have recently been hired. The two-month course is designed to give students necessary skills tools to participate as an effective member of a 911 dispatch team.<\/p>\n
The Emergency Dispatch Academy features\u00a0instructor led lectures, hands-on experience with a dispatch console, opportunities to participate in real life scenarios while\u00a0learning essential multi-tasking techniques, and written assessments such as quizzes, module exams and a final exam. Upon completion\u00a0of the course, students should be able to effectively operate within an Emergency 911 Center and will be able to function as vital\u00a0link in the Emergency Response field.\u00a0Pre-requisites for the course include a High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of a reading comprehension placement\u00a0test.<\/p>\n
