{"id":5101,"date":"2016-06-23T21:21:50","date_gmt":"2016-06-23T21:21:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/?p=5101"},"modified":"2016-07-14T12:49:24","modified_gmt":"2016-07-14T12:49:24","slug":"45th-law-enforcement-training-academy-graduates-recognized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/2016\/06\/45th-law-enforcement-training-academy-graduates-recognized\/","title":{"rendered":"45th Law Enforcement Training Academy Graduates Recognized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The following cadets from Nash Community College\u2019s 45th Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) academy were recognized for completion on Wednesday, June 1, 2016:<\/p>\n<p>Hector Ruben Caballero, Jr., Prince Brandon Child, Colton Shane Craft, Amy Carol Dillon, James Michael Gwaltney, Samantha Kay Hill, Daryl Montrey Jones, Kathryn Elizabeth Keeton, Aaron Timothy Lancaster, James Hedrick Mizelle, III and Christopher Lee Patterson<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSC_0171.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-5105\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSC_0171-1024x633.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0171\" width=\"620\" height=\"383\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSC_0171-1024x633.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSC_0171-150x92.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSC_0171-300x185.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Guest speaker, Rocky Mount Police Department Lieutenant Henry Alvin King, Jr., began by addressing the bonds created during their training. \u201cToday you can say that you have 11 new friends in your lives that have helped make the last 18 weeks bearable and fun. You had a great time making these friendships and these friendships will last forever,\u201d King said.<\/p>\n<p>A special pinning was held during the ceremony to recognize four cadets who had been hired or were in the process of being hired by the Rocky Mount Police Department and Nash County Sherriff\u2019s Department. \u201cWhen I look at this class they remind me of a class motto I had years ago, \u2018coming in as strangers, leaving as colleagues\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cadets in NCC\u2019s BLET program participate in rigorous physical and classroom state commission mandated topics and methods of instruction covering topics related to legal, criminal, juvenile, civil, traffic, investigative, patrol, custody, court procedures, emergency responses, ethics, and community relations. \u201cI would like to leave you with this saying, before you speak, listen; before you criticize wait; before you pray, forgive; before you write, think; and before you quit, try and if needed try again,\u201d remarked King.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the program, contact BLET Coordinator Adam Gelo at 252-451-8298 or agelo@nashcc.edu.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a9 Nash Community College.
