Nash Community College recently held a recognition ceremony for its\u00a0Medical Assisting and Practical Nursing programs.<\/p>\n

The Practical<\/span> Nursing<\/span> curriculum prepares individuals with the knowledge and skills to provide\u00a0nursing<\/span> care to children and adults. The Practical<\/span> Nursing<\/span>\u00a0program is a three-semester program of study which leads to a one-year Diploma. Courses include content related to the practical<\/span>\u00a0nurse’s role in participating in assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing\u00a0<\/span>care. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) which is required for practice as a Licensed Practical<\/span> Nurse. Employment opportunities include hospitals,rehabilitation\/long term care\/home health facilities, clinics, and physicians\u2019 offices.<\/p>\n

The Medical<\/span> Assisting<\/span> curriculum prepares multi-skilled health care professionals qualified to perform administrative, clinical, and laboratory procedures. Course work includes instruction in scheduling appointments, coding, and processing insurance accounts, billing, collections, computer operations;\u00a0assisting<\/span> with examinations\/treatments, performing routine laboratory procedures, electrocardiography, supervised medication administration; and ethical\/legal issues associated with patient care. Employment opportunities include physician offices, health maintenance organizations, health departments and hospitals.<\/p>\n
