\"Jennifer<\/a>\u201cThrough research assignments as a student at Nash Community College, I came to understand more about the literacy rate in Nash County and found my desire to address a need in my community through my career choice,\u201d Nash-Rocky Mount Early College High School Principal Jennifer Sharpe recalls. \u201cMy NCC English instructors had such a profound impact on my learning that I knew I wanted to help others learn not only to read and write, but also to enjoy it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sharpe was recently named principal of the NRM-Early College High School located at Nash Community College.\u00a0The Early College is a five-year high school where students take\u00a0a combination of high school and college courses preparing to\u00a0graduate with both a high school diploma and either an Associate\u2019s Degree or two years of transferable college credit.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Sharpe is a 1992 graduate of Nash’s College Transfer Program, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education at Barton College. She studied Rhetoric and Composition while at East Carolina University and graduated with a Masters in School Administration from North Carolina State University.<\/p>\n

Prior to working on Nash\u2019s campus, Jennifer Sharpe was Assistant Principal at Rocky Mount High School and previously served in various other administrative and instructional capacities within Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools. Her career in education began in 1994.<\/p>\n

Sharpe is treasurer for the Nash-Rocky Mount Principals and Assistant Principals Association and is a member of the National Paideia Junior Faculty, National Council of Teachers of English, North Carolina English Teachers Association and Professional Educators of North Carolina.<\/p>\n

\u201cCompleting my first two years of college at NCC set me on my career path with a mission to serve my community, and set me up for success beyond my Associate in Arts degree,\u201d Sharpe said. While I did not share the traditional experience of living in a dorm and other aspects of “college life” like some of my peers, I did receive an excellent education that prepared me for the rigors of classes in my major at the university…and I became part of a new vision of college life.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
