The goal of the program is to encourage individuals to enter Advanced Manufacturing programs at Nash Community College including Computer-Integrated Machining, Electrical Systems, Welding Technology and Industrial Systems Technology\u200b,\u200b and to prepare them for real-world careers. The partnership promotes completion of associate degree programs in preparation for a technologically oriented workforce and provides incentives for college students pursuing these programs such as paid work experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Caleb Hurlebaus, Manufacturing Engineer at New Standard Corporation,\u200b helped facilitate the partnership. During high school, he completed an internship at Edwards, Inc., and was offered full-time employment after graduating from Northern Nash High School in 2011. He enrolled at Nash Community College earning a degree in Computer-Integrated Machining. While at Nash, Caleb landed his position\u200b as Computer Numerical Control Laser Operator\u200b at New Standard Corporation and was promoted to Manufacturing Engineer following graduation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I wanted to \u200bstrengthen New Standard&#8217;s recruiting \u200befforts with Nash. Having experienced the advanced manufacturing training at NCC myself, and being able to apply my skills as a college student, and then being hired at New Standard Corporation, I understand the\u200b value and\u200b need \u200bof\u200b real-world training.&#8221; Hurlebaus said. &#8220;It is a natural fit with the college \u200bserving \u200bas a feeder bringing highly skilled employees into local advanced manufacturing positions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>New Standard Corporation provides financial support to \u200beligible \u200b\u200bNCC student\u200bs\u200b including tuition reimbursement up to 50\u200b percent, and offers employment during the period of study up to 25 hours per week. Upon graduation from Nash Community College, \u200bp\u200brogram students who have completed the degree requirements and have satisfactory work performance will be considered for full-time employment.<\/p>\n<p>If selected for full\u200b-\u200btime employment after graduation, the student may apply through the company\u2019s tuition reimbursement program to help cover \u200bany\u200b remaining school loans.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, graduates of the program who obtain full\u200b-\u200btime employment with New Standard Corp\u200boration\u200b, and have interest in attaining a bachelor\u2019s degree, may be eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program.<\/p>\n<p>This program is designed for Nash Community College student\u200bs seeking experience, mentoring, and employment related to their academic program or area of study in a machining, manufacturing operations or electrical\/mechanical setting.&nbsp; The work\/study\/scholarship program is expected to enhance a student\u2019s work, personal,\u200b \u200bacademic\u200b and on-the-job\u200b competencies. \u200b\u200bStudent\u200b recipients\u200b are chosen each year based on eligibility requirements, as space is available, through an application and interview process.<\/p>\n<p>New Standard Corporation is a manufacturer of metal stampings, fabrications and value-added assemblies offering value engineering and analysis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nash Community College and New Standard Corporation are partnering to offer an Intern\/Community College Work Partnership Program.
