Evans, Community Relations Manager for Duke Energy, serves on the NCC Foundation Board of Directors.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Nash Community College\u2019s most prestigious award, the President\u2019s Cup, was awarded in 2016 to\u00a0Duke Energy in appreciation of their collaborative support of the Electric Line Construction program,<br \/>\nAdvanced Manufacturing and Biology. Each year, the President\u2019s Cup can be awarded to anyone affiliated with Nash Community College programs who has made an indelible mark on the college.<br \/>\n\u201cDuke Energy\u2019s support and industry partnership with Nash Community College assisted in providing\u00a0training to students in a highly skilled profession,\u201d NCC President Dr. Bill Carver said.<\/p>\n<p>Duke Energy generously provided funds for Nash Community College scholarships ensuring students\u00a0have access to an affordable education. Additionally, Duke Energy\u2019s support of instructional needs<br \/>\nin advanced manufacturing with funding for NCC\u2019s Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Electrical\u00a0Discharge Machining (EDM) and WaterJet training, and development of the NCC Robotics Training<br \/>\nLab have been critical to the college\u2019s efforts to continue as a leader in training for high tech, high demand careers. The company\u2019s investment in NCC through the Duke Energy Water Resources Fund<br \/>\ngrant has extended biological research creating the Water Quality Institute on the community college\u00a0campus to improve water quality and conservation in the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico river basins through<br \/>\nscholarship, outreach, education and workforce training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuke Energy continues to fill the gap in funding enabling the college to address workforce needs in\u00a0our local community by providing the necessary equipment and instruction on campus,\u201d Carver said.<br \/>\nIn 1999, the company\u2019s efforts assisted in establishing a two-year Electric Lineman Technology associate degree program giving their employees a place to receive training.
