{"id":6283,"date":"2017-07-11T14:23:33","date_gmt":"2017-07-11T14:23:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/?p=6283"},"modified":"2017-07-11T18:57:44","modified_gmt":"2017-07-11T18:57:44","slug":"ncc-career-and-technical-ed-students-place-at-national-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nashccnews.com\/news\/2017\/07\/ncc-career-and-technical-ed-students-place-at-national-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"NCC Career and Technical Ed Students Place in National Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gmail_default\">\n<div class=\"gmail_default\">Nash Community College students and staff recently participated in the\u00a053rd\u00a0Annual National Leadership and Skills Conference\u00a0held in Louisville, Kentucky.\u00a0More than 16,000 students, teachers and business partners participated in the conference.\u00a0NCC students represent the largest community college SkillsUSA chapter in North Carolina.<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\">\n<p>SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel by providing educational programs, leadership opportunities,\u200b events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE).<\/p>\n<p>Stephanie Ashley of Nashville\u00a0was the bronze winner in the Medical Assisting category. The scope of the contest was defined by industry standards as identified by the American Welding Society. The contest included a written examination on safety, math for welders and print reading, an oral interview with technical committee members and skills performance tests.
