The program is funded by CSX through the &#8220;On Track with Healthy Foods&#8221; grant and is part of the Healthy Places NC initiative.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The two organizations kicked off the farm-to-school program on July 26 with a cantaloupe and summer fruit cup tasting event\u00a0for students and parents\u00a0at Bailey Elementary School. Nash Community College Chef Frank Bookhardt (pictured above, center) provided a demonstration, and prepared low fat parfaits with the recipe from NCC&#8217;s cook book. Working Landscapes staff led additional educational activities.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>Working Landscapes is a non-profit organization with a mission to create more sustainable living for people in the region. They work with community organizations to help achieve stewardship of natural and cultural assets.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>NCC will provide fresh-cut vegetables to Bailey Elementary School and Coopers Elementary School this fall, and establish additional culinary collaborations on the College&#8217;s campus.
