Nash Community College recently held a recognition ceremony for its\u00a0Medical Assisting and Practical Nursing programs.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Practical<\/span>\u00a0Nursing<\/span>\u00a0curriculum prepares individuals with the knowledge and skills to provide\u00a0nursing<\/span>\u00a0care to children and adults. A\u00a0three-semester program of study, Practical Nursing leads to a one-year diploma. Courses include content related to the practical<\/span>\u00a0nurse’s role in participating in assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating\u00a0nursing\u00a0<\/span>care. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) which is required for practice as a Licensed\u00a0Practical<\/span>\u00a0Nurse. Employment opportunities are available in hospitals, rehabilitation, long-term care, home health facilities, clinics, and physicians\u2019 offices.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Medical<\/span>\u00a0Assisting<\/span>\u00a0curriculum prepares multi-skilled health care professionals to perform administrative, clinical, and laboratory procedures. Course work includes instruction in scheduling appointments, coding, and processing insurance accounts, billing, collections and computer operations. Graduates are prepared to\u00a0assist<\/span>\u00a0with examinations\u00a0and treatments, and perform routine laboratory procedures, electrocardiography, and supervised medication administration. Employment opportunities exist in\u00a0physician offices, health maintenance organizations, health departments and hospitals.<\/p>\n
