The facilities are slated to open in the summer of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood projects take all kinds of leadership to spur people to action. This expansion project, like many of the programs at NCC, has many partners. County leadership worked with the College, and with administrative approval, got the ball rolling. Some incredibly generous individuals have also provided private support,\u201d NCC President Dr. Bill Carver told attendees. \u201cThe architects and contractors were selected and building plans were completed. We fast forward to today and are once again working with Oakley Collier Architects and our new partner, Engineered Construction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Advanced Manufacturing facility totaling approximately 16,000 square feet will provide academic and training space for students enrolled in Computer-Integrated Machining, Electrical Systems Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Welding Technol\u00adogy, and Electronics Engineering Technology programs.\u200b The Cosmetology Building, totaling approximately 10,000 square feet, will include instructional salon lab areas, academic classrooms, lab instructional areas for manicure and pedicure and general program support spaces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese buildings will belong to the community and will serve Nash County, and especially those citizens who voted yes for education as a result of the Connect NC bond referendum,&#8221;\u200b Carver said.<\/p>\n<p>This is an exciting time at the College. The future is being shaped and growth is apparent. The facilities will enhance the College\u2019s ability to position this community for high tech careers.<\/p>\n<p>For the fall semester, NCC has 2,971 students enrolled in curriculum classes. NCC ranks 20th in North Carolina\u2019s 58-community college system for curriculum head count.<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that the average NCC student is 27 years old? The campus continues to address the diverse needs of the community\u200b &#8211; traditional and non-traditional learners, employed and unemployed -\u200b \u200btailo\u200bring offerings and services to the needs demonstrated by local citizens.\u200b \u200bStudents enter \u200bNCC&#8217;s campus from all walks of life. They leave as firefighters, nurses, detention officers and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) operators, and are likely your neighbors\u200b.<\/p>\n<p>Nash Community College is gearing up for spring semester registration which will be held on campus November 15 and 16. Returning students may register on\u200bline beginning November 8. Spring semester classes begin January 8.<\/p>\n<p>Due to recent changes to the application \u200bprocess \u200bat North Carolina community colleges, new applicants are encouraged to seek assistance during t\u200bhe process. NCC personnel are available in Building A\u200b in\u200b Student &amp; Enrollment Services, to help students with the new \u200bsystem. No appointment is ne\u200bcessary.<\/p>\n<p>\u200bNCC is excited to have recently hired the Director for the Veterinary Medical Technology program and next fall the first student cohort will be taking classes. Space is already being prepared and student interest is extremely high. \u201cBringing this program to eastern North Carolina is overdue,\u201d said Carver. Additionally, NCC will partner with Martin Community College for an equine certificate. And plans are being made to up\u200b-\u200bfit existing Library mezzanine space to centrally locate the Student Advising Center.
