Joseph Wiley Corbett, III, Nashville Police Department Captain, was the guest speaker. Edgecombe County Sheriff&#8217;s Office,&nbsp;Franklin County Sheriff&#8217;s Office,&nbsp;Nashville Police Department,&nbsp;Nash County Sheriff&#8217;s Office and&nbsp;Vance County Sheriff&#8217;s Office hired directly from the class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNash Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training provides students a unique experience using advanced technology and instructional strategies and equipment like no other training in this region,\u201d Public Safety Programs Department Chair Adam Gelo said. \u201cWe have worked hard to establish our reputation with law enforcement agencies and the community, and we are grateful for their continued support. Graduating 50 classes of law enforcement cadets is no small feat. It is indicative of NCC\u2019s strong reputation and the community\u2019s longstanding support,\u201d Department Chair Adam Gelo said.<\/p>\n<p>Graduates pictured from left are: Front row &#8211;&nbsp;Ismail Hazeam Naji Al-wadei of Littleton;&nbsp;Taylor Nicholas Lucas of Elm City;&nbsp;Rashawn Devante Harris of Rocky Mount, Salvador Vega, Jr. of Henderson, and Adam Gelo. Back row &#8211; Rashaud Dante\u2019 Battle of Rocky Mount;&nbsp;Francisco Trejo, Jr. of Bailey;&nbsp;Andrew Seth Smith (Platoon Leader) of Rocky Mount and&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 0.95em;\">Aaron Deshaun Davis of&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 0.95em;\">Bunn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Cadets participated in rigorous physical and classroom state commission mandated topics and methods of instruction covering topics related to legal, criminal, juvenile, civil, traffic, investigative, patrol, custody, court procedures, emergency responses, ethics, community relations and more during the twenty-seven week training. To graduate, students successfully completed and passed all units of study, including the certification examination mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the North Carolina Sheriffs\u2019 Education and Training Standards Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Nash Community College has trained law enforcement officers through its BLET program since 1999.&nbsp;Because of the regional reputation of the program, and due to its quality and growth along with the College\u2019s superior in-service law enforcement training, Nash Community College expanded the BLET training options with the opening of the Center for Advanced Law Enforcement Training in the new Continuing Education and Public Services Building.
