This support will provide scholarship assistance to individuals to update their skills and provide them with additional marketable skills reflective of fast-growing, local occupations and\/or new industries.<\/p>\n<p>The objectives of the initiative are to provide access to short-term training programs aligned with in-demand credentials supporting local workforce need; and to develop educational opportunities for individuals interested in diversifying utilization of agriculture resources and enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>With the funding, Nash Community College will offer up to $500 financial assistance to each eligible student. To be considered for the Project Skill-UP scholarship, the applicant must be a permanent resident of Nash, Edgecombe, Franklin, Halifax or Wilson County, at least 18 years of age, unemployed or underemployed and either the student or an immediate family member must have been affected by the loss of a job in the tobacco or agricultural industry.<\/p>\n<p>Occupational pathways supported by Project Skill-UP include:\u00a0CDL Truck Driver Training,\u00a0Cosmetology Instructor &#8211; Part 1 and 2, Emergency Dispatch Academy,\u00a0EMT- Basic, Basic Academy, Intermediate and Paramedic,\u00a0EMT to Nurse Aide II,\u00a0Firefighter Academy,\u00a0HVAC,\u00a0Manicurist\/Nail Technology,\u00a0Nurse Aide I and II,\u00a0Pharmacy Technician,\u00a0Veterinary Assistant,\u00a0Underground Electric Line Construction,\u00a0Natural Hair Care and\u00a0Phlebotomy.<\/p>\n<p>Students should submit the Project Skill-UP application to the Nash Community College Continuing Education Department located at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/?q=522+N.+Old+Carriage+Road&amp;entry=gmail&amp;source=g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/maps.google.com\/?q%3D522%2BN.%2BOld%2BCarriage%2BRoad%26entry%3Dgmail%26source%3Dg&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1532616826583000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGUcPqxNy7Pz5cvQ6yL4tfsrkcuyw\">522 N.
