Renovations began when the College\u2019s Advanced Manufacturing and Cosmetology programs moved out the building and into two new buildings located on the south end of campus. The expansion was made possible through North Carolinians\u2019 support of the ConnectNC bond.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">President Dr. Bill Carver recalled the Early College\u2019s humble beginnings on NCC\u2019s campus. \u201cThe mobile units were thought to be temporary but NCC took a chance. A chance \u2013 not a leap \u2013 because Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools, our longtime partner, was the tip of the spear identifying students for a new way to attend high school \u2013 earning a high school and college credential together. There was no manual; we just did what was good for students.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Early College students take a combination of high school and college courses, and upon successful completion, graduate with a high school diploma and either a Nash Community College Associate Degree or two years of college credit transferable to a four-year institution.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u201cI would like to thank Dr. Jefferies and the Nash-Rocky Mount Public School System\u2019s Board of Education for the investment represented here,\u201d Carver said. \u201cStudents, this was done for you. Remember to make it count. Winston Churchhill said we shape our buildings, and then our buildings shape us. Graduates from the Early College have a proud history of success.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, a tour was given of the remodeled facility.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Nash Community College Board Chair Paul Jaber thanked attendees for their support. \u201cToday represents a major investment in this combined partnership.
