The Nash Community College Foundation’s annual campaign is underway to raise funds for students in need to pursue their educational dreams.

For forty-five years, students have come to Nash Community College to pursue a degree or develop a skill-set to better themselves and improve the quality of life for their families. Many of these students graduate and contribute to the local workforce and economy and are where they are today because of a Nash Community College Foundation Scholarship.

“As a first generation college student, I remember my younger days of attending Valdosta State University. I was beginning the journey in my life to prepare me for the career I enjoy today.  My experience is very much like many of the students who attend Nash Community College. It may also be similar to yours when you had a dream and knew education was the answer,” MBM Corporation Chief Operating Officer and 2013 NCC Foundation Campaign Chair Andy Blanton said.

Money raised during the 2013 NCC Foundation Scholarship Campaign provides critical resources for need-based and merit-based scholarships to help students on the path to a college education and a successful career. More people than ever are turning to Nash Community College to pursue educational opportunities and ensure a solid future.

“In 2007, I was laid off. I had always admired the nursing profession since I was a child. I enrolled at NCC and started my Nursing prerequisites. After being out of work for three years, I now work full-time at Nash Health Care Systems as a Certified Nurse Assistant on the weekends, while attending Nursing classes and clinicals during the week. Thank you for your help in making my dreams become a reality,” NCC Practical Nurse Education student Melanie Rountree shared with donors at a recent donor appreciation event.

The NCC Foundation is seeking financial contributions during the 2013 annual scholarship campaign. Blanton and the Nash Community College Foundation Board of Directors invite the community to join in their efforts to make a difference for the students who will ultimately impact the local community’s future.

“When I enrolled at Nash Community College, at the age of 20, I had already been in business for two years and needed to obtain more education in order to grow it,” Brian Bartholomew, NCC Business Administration student and owner of Bartholomew Enterprises, Inc.a local industrial and commercial pressure washing business shared. “With each class I took, I began implementing the concepts, skills and tools in my business and I have seen 100 percent growth. Because of this growth, I have had to hire additional employees,” he continued.

The Nash Community College Foundation Annual Scholarship Campaign began March 12 and will last until April 12. Since 1983, gifts to the Nash Community College Foundation have been changing lives. These resources ensure that deserving students have the financial capability to take advantage of the quality instruction and higher educational opportunities the college provides. “To the donors, your gracious contributions have not only been an investment in my life, but have also touched my family, business, and community and for that I am so grateful,” Bartholomew said.
