Alumni Association Spotlight: Wesley Springs

Wesley Springs graduated from Nash Community College in 2009. A college transfer student, he knew he wanted to attend a university but did not know which career field he wanted to pursue. “For someone who is unsure of their career interest, attending Nash Community College is a great way to get involved, network with instructors, and decide on a field before transferring,” he shared.

As he studied at Nash, Wesley developed an interest in mathematics while getting to know faculty, participating in coursework and presenting research with the Math and Science Clubs at collegial symposiums. A member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, he also recalls the time he spent with fellow students attending conferences and developing friendships.

Upon graduation, Wesley attended North Carolina State University where he continued his practice of networking with professors, and also stayed in touch with NCC instructors completing research with them. At NCSU, Wesley’s research examined the application of the Game Theory as it relates to mathematics. He graduated from NCSU with a degree in Mathematics in 2011.

Wesley Springs currently works as a Content Specialist with WebAssign, a company that creates online coursework. His typical day consists inputting math problems into a system that will help expand the minds of tomorrow.

“I chose Nash because of its advanced curriculum,” he said. “NCC offers a variety of opportunities and is a gateway to the larger environment of a university or four-year college.”
