Reggie Cobb, Biology Instructor

Nash Community College Biology Instructor, Reggie Cobb has been selected from thousands of applicants to speak at the upcoming Campus Technology 2015 National Conference at Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA July 27-30. Campus Technology 2015 gives higher education technology professionals the opportunity to receive intensive training through technology-focused workshops, keynote speakers and breakout sessions. “I’m very excited about this opportunity to present at a national level. Out of thousands of proposals, mine was one of about one hundred chosen. I’m looking forward to sharing my Blue Love and passion for teaching and incorporating technology in the classroom,” Cobb shared.

“Engaging in Online Learning: Where Did My Instructor and Classmates Go?’ is the title and topic of Cobb’s presentation, of which he is scheduled to present during one of the Convention’s breakout sessions. The presentation will inform attendees how to easily design and facilitate an online group project using Google Docs, use collaborative means for organizing online work groups,  how to prepare an online Google Slide presentation with assigned online partners and provide an activity using an online Cengage Learning Resource called MindTap, developed to help students stay focused on learning. Cobb hopes his presentation will convey to instructors the uncomplicated nature of coordinating online group activities and that the instructors attending will implement what he demonstrates in their classrooms in order to improve student learning outcomes.

Cobb has been employed at Nash Community College since 2000 teaching on campus, online and virtual classes for non-majors and majors in biology, environmental biology and other freshman and sophomore elective biology courses. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a Master of Arts in education degree, both from East Carolina University. Cobb was selected as the 2015 recipient of the J. Edgar and Peggie T. Moore Excellence in Teaching Award.
