26th Annual Student Scholarship Golf Classic Planned for Oct. 8
Area golfers have provided 25 years of support for the Nash Community College Foundation and its scholarship program by participating in the NCC Foundation Student Scholarship Golf Classic. Golfers have a choice to tee off October 8th at 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. at Benvenue Country Club in Rocky Mount for a day of challenging fun, while providing scholarships for deserving college students. Registration begins at 7 a.m. All proceeds from the golf classic will provide student scholarships and support the needs of Nash Community College.
The format for this year’s tournament will be Captain’s Choice. Each member of the team plays a drive from the tee box. The best drive is chosen by the team. From that spot, each golfer plays and continues to play his or her own ball until the hole is completed. The team marks the best score. Prizes will be awarded to each flight’s first and second-place teams. This year’s grand tournament sponsors are Autumn Care of Nash, Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant, Oakley-Collier Architects, P.A., MBM, Sandy Cross Consultant Service, Inc., ZynBit, Institutional Interiors, Inc., Franklin Street Partners,Roger G. Taylor & Associates and North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives. Golf carts are sponsored by McLane. 2015 Hospitality and Event Contributors are Benvenue Country Club, Carolina Eagle Budweiser, Inc., Davenport Autopark, North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives and Speight’s Trophy Shop.
Golfers participating in the 26th Annual Nash Community College Foundation Student Scholarship Golf Classic will have a chance to win a 2015 Buick Encore as a hole-in-one prize sponsored by Davenport Autopark. Additional prizes will be awarded for closest-to-the-pin and the longest drives. Raffles and door prize drawings will give golfers an opportunity to win many other items donated by area businesses and individuals. Members of the golf committee coordinating the event are 2015 Committee Chair Tommy Greer, Cam Blalock, David Combs, Kevin Cox, Phil Dixon, Frank Maynard, Dr. Bill Carver, Annette Dishner, Dr. Trent Mohrbutter, Pat Ellis Daniels, Kelley Deal and Amanda Young.
