NCC Students Visit Keihin Tarboro Facility

Twenty-three students from Nash Community College’s Electronics Engineering, Electrical Systems & Industrial Systems Technology programs toured the Keihin Carolina System Technology manufacturing facility in Tarboro last week. Dan Baugh, Keihin Test Engineer, coordinated the visit which introduced students to the manufacturing processes required to build the Engine Control Module (ECM) used in Honda automobiles.
Keihin operates eight manufacturing lines that produce 10,000 ECMs per day. Each line is completely automated giving students a bird’s eye view of the robotics, controls, and testing procedures performed as the ECMs progress from start to finish. At the end of the line, the modules are wrapped, packaged and prepared for distribution to Honda automobile manufacturing sites worldwide.
