SGA Provides Food for Local Children

Throughout the year, Nash Community College’s Student Government Association (SGA) sponsors student activities supporting projects to help better the local community. Most recently, the association donated items received through a campus-wide food drive to Peacemakers of Rocky Mount. The food will be used during Freedom School, a summer enrichment program provided by Peacemakers to 180 local children in Rocky Mount and Tarboro. Using curriculum designed by the Children’s Defense Fund, Freedom School helps rising first through ninth graders fall in love with reading. The Nash Community College SGA is the primary student organization responsible for providing activities and opportunities at NCC to enhance formal educational experiences on and off campus.
