NCC President Honors Campus Groups for Commitment to Service

Nash Community College President Dr. Bill Carver, during the NCC Employee Recognition Ceremony, awarded the Nursing Department the 2017 Pride Award. Each year, the Pride Award honors a full-time employee or group of employees.

The department was selected for demonstrating a high level of service, commitment, and perseverance. “The last year has not been an easy one as the College and the Nursing Department lost a dear friend in the passing of Cheryle Traish, Assistant Director of Nursing,” NCC President Dr. Bill Carver said. “However, as a department you pulled together and persevered, not only making it through, but finishing the year strong, with student retention, licensure exam pass rates and student success at an all time high. You are to be commended.”

President Carver also announced the 2017 President’s Challenge Award was being awarded to the entire faculty and staff for achieving 100 percent participation in the NCC Foundation’s Employee Campaign. In its fiftieth year, every employee showed their commitment to student success by donating to assist deserving scholarship recipients. During the Employee Recognition Ceremony, Dr. Carver also shared a personal story about a teacher who made a significant impact on his life as he challenged employees to “be the one” to make a difference in the classroom, throughout campus, and in the community.
