Cadets participate in rigorous physical and classroom state commission mandated topics and methods of instruction covering topics related to legal, criminal, juvenile, civil, traffic, investigative, patrol, custody, court procedures, emergency responses, ethics, community relations and more during the twenty-seven week training. To graduate, students successfully completed and passed all units of study, including the certification examination mandated by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Education and Training Standards Commission.

Nash Community College has trained law enforcement officers through its BLET program since 1999. Because of the regional reputation of the program, and due to its quality and growth along with the College’s superior in-service law enforcement training, Nash Community College expanded the BLET training options with the opening of the Center for Advanced Law Enforcement Training in the Continuing Education and Public Services Building in 2015.
