Greer Elected President of N.C. Society of Medical Assistants

Nash Community College Medical Assisting Practicum Coordinator and Instructor Amber Greer of Greenville has been elected and installed as president of the North Carolina Society of Medical Assistants.

Greer earned an Associate in Applied Science in Medical Assisting at Pitt Community College. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Health Care Management concentration from Mount Olive College where she was a member of Delta Mu Delta international business honor society. Greer has been employed with Nash Community College since 2012.

As Practicum Coordinator and Instructor, Greer is responsible for coordinating and overseeing NCC students’ practicum experience helping prepare them to serve as multi-skilled healthcare professionals. She works with local health care facilities to develop and maintain practicum agreements.

Prior to working at Nash Community College, Greer worked in the Outpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at the East Carolina Heart Institute at East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine. She previously served as a Practicum Preceptor for Pitt Community College Medical Assisting students.

Amber Greer served two terms as the Secretary of the North Carolina Society of Medical Assistants before being elected as the President-Elect last year. She also has experience in serving on several of the Society’s state committees and is a member of the American Association of Medical Assistants and North Carolina Association of Medical Assisting Educators.

As President of the North Carolina Society of Medical Assistants and Chair of the Executive Council and Board of Directors, Greer will lead the organization in inspiring honest and efficient service in the profession and providing educational service to increase the knowledge and professionalism of its members. The organization supports fellowship and cooperation within the medical profession with a goal of improving public relations and supporting Medical Assistants.
