NCC Students Visit Peru

Study Abroad Coordinator; English Instructor Katie Hoffer, faculty/staff chaperones including NCC President Dr. Bill Carver and 12 students from Nash Community College departed May 15 for their study abroad trip to Peru. The trip gave students an opportunity to experience Peru’s beautiful diversity from ancient Inca cities, Lima’s sprawling landscape, lush Amazonian jungles, and the snow-capped Andes.

Among the group’s stops was the Sacred Valley of the Incas, which included a walking tour of Cuzco and the Cuzco Cathedral. Students also toured the home and studio of ceramicist, Pablo Seminario, and watched a live pottery demonstration. While visiting the Lake Titicaca community, the students worked with a local non-profit on an eco-focused and community development project. Other stops during the trip included Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo, and Puno.
