NCC to Participate in Education and Business Leaders’ Summit

Nash Community College is proud to collaborate with Strategic Twin Counties Education Partnership (S.T.E.P.), along with numerous partners in education and business to present the Twin-Counties Education & Business Leaders’ Summit. The event will be held Thursday, August 9, 2018 in Keihin Auditorium on the campus of Edgecombe Community College in Tarboro.

The summit brings together area public school systems, community colleges, community-based organizations, and employers to build the local talent pipeline by growing workforce awareness, ensuring relevant workforce skills and strengthening relationships with business and industry.

John Chaffee, President/CEO of NC East Alliance, and Jim Goodmon, Chairman/CEO of Capital Broadcasting Company will be the guest speakers. Additionally, guests will hear from and exchange dialogue with local business, industry and education panelists.

“There is no more pressing need of the businesses in the Twin Counties than the availability of qualified employees to fill the vacancies we have now and will have for the foreseeable future. It is more urgent than ever for the business/education communities to forge strong partnerships to recruit and train this much needed workforce,” Norris Tolson, CEO/President of Carolinas Gateway Partnership said. “The talent pool is available but it will take concerted effort of everybody’s part to get workers trained and employed.”

Doors will open at 7:15 a.m. for a networking breakfast followed by the program. Tickets are free and online registration is required.
