NCC Announces President’s Challenge Award Recipient

Nash Community College has announced its 2018 President’s Challenge Award recipient is Nash UNC Health Care. The annual award recognizes an individual or group for the role they play in supporting Nash Community College students’ future success. The hospital was selected as the recipient for their continued longstanding commitment to, and support of Nash Community College nursing students.

Nash UNC Health Care supports Nash Community College’s Health Sciences program by supplementing funding for faculty development initiatives that promote current practice trends, effective instructional methodology, and enhanced student learning opportunities. Their financial investment assists with the maintenance of faculty accreditation requirements, simulation training and credentialing, and student initiatives and licensure success as NCC provides education and training programs for the development of regional health care professionals.

In 2017, Nash UNC Health Care established the Nash Nurse Scholars Program as an investment in growing and supporting local nurses, specifically community college nursing students. The program provides a full scholarship and monthly stipend to participating nursing students who commit to working at Nash UNC Health Care for two or three years following graduation.
