Karol Vite-Perez, of Rocky Mount, enrolled at Nash-Rocky Mount Early College in 2014.
Located on the campus of Nash Community College, Early College students take a combination of high school and college courses, and upon successful completion, graduate with both a high school diploma and either an Associate Degree or two years of college credit transferable to a four-year institution.
She graduated with an Associate in Arts, College Transfer in 2019. “At first, I just planned to graduate and go to a four-year college,” Perez said. “But I discovered my passion during my senior year and I decided to continue at Nash Community College to pursue an additional associate degree. I saw opportunities here.”
Perez is enrolled as an Advertising and Graphic Design major with plans to graduate in the spring and transfer to a four-year university. While also balancing work and personal life, she has maintained a 3.3 cumulative grade point average.
“As an educator, I am thrilled to know that Karol wants to continue her education in graphic design even beyond her graduation from NCC,” Advertising and Graphic Design Instructor Natasha Neal said.
“The instructors at Nash encourage me to do what I’m good at by giving me honest feedback and advice about my design,” Perez said. “I would like to focus my career on magazine design. I enjoy applying my creativity to layouts, fonts and colors.“
Instructor Neal has encouraged her to pursue her dreams. “Karol is a student who is fully engaged in the classroom. When I first met her I was struck by her commitment to excellence, not only in her scholastic endeavors but in all aspects of her life.”
At the Early College, she earned the Eagle of Excellence: College Readiness and Outstanding Student awards. She is the recipient of numerous scholarships at NCC.
