Bass Family Establishes Annual Scholarship at NCC

The Nash Community College Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the James Arthur Bass, Sr. Automotive Technology Scholarship in 2020 by James Arthur Bass Jr., Garnet L. Bass, and Robert S. Bass, the children of the late Mr. Bass. This scholarship reflects Mr. Bass’s children’s desire to honor their father’s legacy in the local automotive industry.

Mr. Bass began his career as an auto mechanic and later owned and operated an auto parts business in Nashville. He also taught evening classes at the former Nash Technical College. August 28, 2020 marked the 100th anniversary of Mr. Bass’s birth.

The scholarship is an annual award recognizing the efforts of full-time students enrolled in the Automotive Systems Technology degree program at Nash Community College.

“My brothers and I are grateful for all the NCC Foundation has done to help us establish the James Arthur Bass Sr. Automotive Technology Scholarship,” said Garnet Bass. “We are extremely excited knowing the College already has a potential recipient for the first scholarship,” Bass continued.

The Nash Community College Foundation, Inc. was established in 1983 to increase community awareness, raise funds for the student scholarship program, and to help meet the needs of Nash Community College. For more information, please call (252) 451-8440.
