NCC employees support student scholarships

Nash Community College’s Foundation has wrapped up its 2021 Employee Campaign raising over $25,000 through faculty and staff donations in support of student scholarships. “Our employees see the impact of their support each day as we help students to realize their educational dreams and enter the workforce,” Vice President of Institutional Advancement and Foundation Executive Director Pam Ballew said.

Money raised during the Employee Campaign provides critical resources for need-based and merit-based scholarships.

“I donate because I see the positive results every day in students and in their performance in the classroom,” Alex Barnhill, NCC Applied Engineering Technologies Department Chair and Computer-Integrated Machining Instructor said. “There is someone I may not even know who needs assistance to achieve their dreams. Any donation can make a difference.

Students come to Nash Community College to work towards a degree or develop a skill-set to better themselves and improve the quality of life for their families. Many graduate and contribute to the local workforce and economy.

“Grants and scholarships helped fund all of my degrees,” NCC Associate Library Director Robert James said. “We will likely never know how much it truly means for the individuals who benefit from our gifts, but we will know that we made someone’s journey to their dream a little easier.”

“This is a tangible demonstration of our team members understanding the value of an educated workforce and meeting students where they are,” Ballew said.

Individuals considering a charitable gift to the Nash Community College Foundation can be assured they are making a lasting impact. Donations can be made in honor or in memory of a special friend or family member.

“I give because I received a scholarship from the NCC Foundation when I was a student here,” Administrative Assistant Stephanie Cole-Hyke shared. “It helped me achieve my associate degree in office administration. Most importantly, I wanted to pay it forward to help students with their accomplishments.”
